Chris Harrington, technology director for integrated communications agency Luquire George Andrews, will present a hands-on “Eat & Tweet” session on Twitter at the July 1 meeting of the Charlotte chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

Harrington created the “Vote Woz” Twitter campaign that made national headlines this spring and was credited with extending Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak’s appearance on “Dancing With The Stars.” He has also helped LGA clients use Twitter to augment traditional media in their public relations and marketing initiatives. Harrington’s IABC Charlotte program will discuss the strategy he devised to attract more than 100,000 users to his @votewoz Twitter page, as well as other examples of how people in business are using Twitter to communicate with customers and other key audiences.
“Twitter has rapidly grown into a social media phenomenon that’s impossible to ignore, and its impact as a communication tool has been demonstrated in situations ranging from the Domino’s Pizza PR crisis to the current civil unrest in Iran,” Harrington said. “But a lot of people are still getting a handle on the basics or figuring out how to incorporate Twitter into their professional lives, and that’s where I hope to help.”
